My Camera Is Grayed Out
If your camera appears grayed out in Lutefish and cannot be selected, the most common cause is OBS Virtual Camera.
Why This Happens
If OBS Virtual Camera is installed on your computer, it can:
Take control of your camera device
Prevent other applications (including your browser) from accessing it
Cause your camera to appear unavailable or grayed out
Even if OBS is not actively open, the virtual camera driver can still interfere.
How to Fix It
In most cases:
Uninstall OBS Virtual Camera.
Restart your browser.
Rejoin your session.
This resolves the issue.
Still Not Working?
If your camera is still unavailable:
Fully restart your computer.
Check your browser’s camera permissions.
Try switching to Chrome or Safari.
